This is a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging people aged 65 and over to be more physically active and to strengthen social connections. Physical activity and social contact are crucial for the health and wellbeing of older adults. This age group is well represented in Wassenaar, as 25% of our residents are 65 or older.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Being active, connecting, and ageing well<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As we grow older, many things change. We stop working, we may lose people around us, and physical complaints become more common. This can be challenging. Volunteering, taking part in social or cultural activities, and staying physically active can all help. But one thing works especially well: being active together. Moving together is good for your body, your mind, and your connection with others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ouderenfonds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Beweegweek is an initiative of the National Elderly Fund (Nationaal Ouderenfonds). Staying active and maintaining social contact are essential for a good quality of life. It is therefore important to choose activities that match someone\u2019s interests and needs. By participating in different activities, older adults stay connected with others and remain active. That is why Fit in Wassenaar has put together a varied programme, allowing participants to try out different activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Beweegweek Wassenaar programme<\/strong> Throughout Wassenaar, various physical activities will take place, ranging from Walking Football at Blauw Zwart to senior gymnastics at Amarosa. The week will kick off with the Vitality Afternoon on 18 May at the Wassenaar Health Centre, from 13:00 to 16:00.
