Join the adventure at the Parent & Child festival during Children’s Book Week!

30/09/2025

Wassenaar is organizing a unique event during Children’s Book Week.
This festival, “Full of Adventure”, is specially designed for (expectant) parents and children up to 4 years old. The focus is on meeting others, exchanging information, and enjoying quality time together with your child. The festival offers a great combination of educational workshops for parents while children can take part in storytelling, toddler gymnastics, and parent-child activities.
This special festival is an initiative of Fit in Wassenaar, in collaboration with the Wassenaar Library, the Kansrijke Start (Promising Start) coalition, and the Municipality of Wassenaar.

Parenthood is an adventure
(Expectant) parenthood is a journey full of surprises, discoveries, and growth. No day is the same, and each phase brings new challenges as well as wonderful moments. Fortunately, you don’t have to do this alone as a parent or caregiver. Together with other parents, family, professionals, and supporters, you can share experiences, inspire one another, and offer support. In Wassenaar, we believe it is important that every child gets the best possible start in life.

Promising Start
A Promising Start has a major impact on a child’s health and development. That’s why local organizations have joined forces in the Kansrijke Start coalition. Within the municipality of Wassenaar, Kansrijke Start is continued in the program Growing Up in a Promising Environment (OKO), where the entire community works together to create a positive environment for young people to grow up in.
Through Kansrijke Start, this festival is also linked to the Healthy Pregnancy Awareness Week, which focuses on raising awareness about the importance of a healthy pregnancy for future parents. During the festival, professionals from the local Kansrijke Start coalition will provide practical support.

Activities for parent and child
Several partners from the Kansrijke Start coalition will be present with their programs, and parents can simply join in. Activities include parent & child movement, toddler gymnastics, storytelling, arts and crafts, a baby carrier demonstration, baby massage, and information on various topics related to healthy conception and pregnancy. Children can take a photo with “The Bookstart Bear.” There will also be a coffee corner for (expectant) parents, healthy snacks, and feeding/changing facilities.
