The Growing up successfully programme, with a focus on Best Start in Life, ensures a healthy start for every child. We focus on the first 1,000 days (which begin in the womb), as these are crucial for future health, and carry this through into growing up successfully in Wassenaar. We strive for a good and healthy start for every child in a supportive environment. Together with partners, we are committed to all children, with extra attention for families who need support.
The national Best Start in Life programme aims to give more children a healthy start and help them grow up healthy. The programme focuses on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life and consists of 3 action lines: Before pregnancy, During pregnancy and After birth.
How do we implement this?
Working together:
1. We have assembled a strong group of local partners who help during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.
2. We establish clear agreements between local partners in healthcare and other areas.
Identifying opportunities: Together with our group of local partners, we examine the challenges in our municipality for giving children a good start.
Targeted support: We identify which support works best for our municipality and implement it.
Collaborating with other municipalities: We make agreements with neighbouring municipalities about support and collaboration for a Best Start in Life.
How do I participate?
We invite all residents, sports clubs and local organisations to participate in the Best Start in Life programme in Wassenaar:
For residents: Are you a (soon-to-be) parent or do you care for a child? Get in touch with us for activities and support.
For sports clubs: Your activities are important for healthy development. Discover how you can participate in our programme. Contact us to find out how you can get involved.
For organisations: Do you work in healthcare, education or childcare? Join our group of local partners and contribute to a good start for every child.
