On January 20, 2026, a particularly successful first Vitality Day took place in Wassenaar, organized by Fit in Wassenaar. It was a day full of energy, meetings and awareness, where 55 enthusiastic participants aged 65 and older had the opportunity to gain insight into their health and lifestyle in an accessible way. A kind of MOT check, at the beginning of the new year.
During the event, 12 different vitality tests were administered – from mobility/flexibility to muscle strength and a fall risk test on a Smart Floor – so that every participant went home with valuable, personal insights. “I have become wiser and I have received good tips,” says one of the participants. Another participant is also enthusiastic and thinks it is very good that this is being done. As an extra token of appreciation, all participants received a well-filled goodie bag, made possible by various involved partners from the Fit network in Wassenaar.
The Vitality Day was a true collaborative project, implementing three chain approaches to which the Municipality of Wassenaar is affiliated. Chain approach Adult to Healthier Weight, Chain approach Wezlijn on prescription and Chain approach Fall prevention. Thanks to the hospitable accommodation of the Sterrenbad and the efforts of partners such as WOB, well-being coach SMOW, Ergotherapie Wassenaar, Dietitian Haaglanden, the Wassenaarse Apotheek and Njoy Fitness, the day had a professional and warm appearance. Their contribution made it possible to support and inspire participants in several areas.
The combination of expert guidance, a pleasant atmosphere and a wide range of tests ensured that the Vitality Day was not only informative, but also motivating. A day that got people thinking, got them moving and showed that vitality is within reach for everyone. A wonderful start to 2026 – and a great incentive for a more vital Wassenaar.
