Wassenaar will be festively enhanced by the Third Wassenaar Bicycle Lights Parade on Thursday, November 14, 2024. From 6.30 pm, a colorful procession of cyclists, young and old, will cycle through the village from the Van Heeckerenhuis. All bicycles decorated with lit, flashing and colored lights. Everyone is invited to participate!
With this free event, the organization hopes to get many people on their bikes to enjoy bringing light together in dark times. In addition, attention is paid to good bicycle lighting in the winter months. This year we will be offering live music during the tour and traditionally a hot chocolate stop along the way.
Before the parade there is the opportunity to pimp your bike at the van Heeckerenhuis between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. You get help decorating the bike, and there are pancakes for those who want. If you have them, bring your own (second-hand) pimp materials, the organization also has some extra items.
The procession will leave at 6.30 pm accompanied by traffic controllers, including our mayor Leendert de Lange. Together with a child, he will form the jury and at the end of the route around 7:45 PM, he will award the prize to the most beautifully pimped bicycle. Children can participate under the supervision of their parents and participation is at their own risk. You are very welcome!!
The Third Wassenaar Bicycle Lights Parade is organized by Han Horsten and the Wassenaar Cyclists’ Union in collaboration with the Municipality of Wassenaar, St. Jozef School, the Volunteer Center and many other enthusiastic volunteers.
