A healthy lifestyle depends on many factors, such as what you eat, what your neighbourhood looks like and how things are at home. Half of all Dutch people are overweight. This is not good. Being overweight can lead to diseases such as diabetes and heart problems. It can also lead to bullying and feelings of sadness. We want to tackle overweight and ensure that everyone in Wassenaar can live a healthy life.


How do we implement this?
New policy: We are developing new plans to tackle overweight in Wassenaar.
Working together: We collaborate with organisations such as the GGD and the JGZ (Youth Health Services). They have extensive knowledge about healthy weight and how we can help.
Identifying needs: We ask our partners what is needed to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
An integrated approach: We link our plans to other programmes, such as Best Start in Life and Healthy Living Environment.
Collaborating with other municipalities: A GGD representative ensures that we work well together with other municipalities. This way, we help both children and adults.
How do I participate?
We invite all residents, local organisations and sports clubs to participate in the Healthy Weight programme in Wassenaar:
For residents: Would you like to work towards a healthy weight for yourself or your family? Get in touch with us for support and activities.
For organisations: Do you work in healthcare, education or with food professionally? Join our network and help promote healthy weight in Wassenaar.
For sports clubs: Your activities support a healthy weight. Discover how you can participate in our Healthy Weight programme.
